One of my most commonly used forms of communication is iMessage. Typically this is how most of my family members are able to reach me and expect to receive a quick response. Messaging through this interface makes the communication feel casual yet interactive as most conversations usually include GIFs, reactions to messages, and a slew of emojis. I prefer to communicate through iMessage and will typically even choose not to answer unimportant phone calls because I would rather just text than talk.
At first thought, I believed iMessage to be one of my most user-friendly communications but the Apple interface comes with its own limitations. In terms of who can participate, you must have an Apple device such as an iPhone or iPad. This means that you can only send and receive iMessages through Apple devices, but it does offer more options for using the service such as using cellular data or WIFI and using your personal Apple ID or phone number in order to participate in the communications. It is also another way to be able to compete with other companies and carriers by offering exclusive features. This may, in turn, persuade corporations to switch over to using iPhones as their company devices or friends and family members who may be questioning making the switch.
I would consider iMessaging to be more or less the medium and context as opposed to the purpose for the communication because how you choose to interact on the interface is limitless in the possibilities. From personalized bitmojis to voice messages that can self-destruct, iMessaging is a unique way to personalize your purpose of communication if you have the right criteria to be able to use it.
