In the past, my writing experience was primarily for enjoyment or personal purposes. Even writing for my business I realized that I would still umbrella this under personal because I chose the topics. I have always enjoyed reading and writing as a creative outlet since my youth, carrying that passion through my young adulthood. I realize now that I lacked discipline in my writing and literacies, relying mostly on the confidence that I felt as a writer and the pressureless freedom of strictly creating pieces for self-pleasure.
As this course has gone on, I have begun to take my new skills, techniques, and understandings outside of the classroom and into everyday uses such as revising a text message before sending it or composing an email off of a carefully constructed plan. One huge improvement is the mindfulness that plays a key role in the process of making good writing great. I am thankful for everything that I have learned so far, as I already see progress in the organization and conciseness of the literacies I am producing. I feel much more disciplined through my practice and I know with hard work and perseverance it will only get better.
For my future, the information I am learning and the skills I am practicing will be vital to carry through my philosophy degree and grad school. I am working towards becoming a lawyer and a necessary part of my job will be unbias analysis and comprehension of cases. I will continue to practice and grow these skill sets for the sake of not just today, but tomorrow.
